Hyderabad | 27th March 2016
Telangana Industries Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said that under the new industrial policy TS-iPASS, proposals from industrial units with investments of more than Rs 5 crores in plant and machinery will be processed at the State level, and applications pertaining to the industries with investment less than Rs 5 crores will be processed at the district Level.

Responding to a question raised by MLAs Gangula Kamalakar, Guvvala Balaraju, Chinta Prabhakar, Ashannagari Jeevan Reddy, Anumula Revanth Reddy, K P Vivekanand, S Rajender Reddy, Tammannagari Ram Mohan Reddy, Donthi Madhava Reddy, Challa Vamshichand Reddy, G Chinna Reddy and Ravindra Kumar Ramavath, Jupally said the State government had approved 396 units to be established under the new industrial policy upto March 15 this year, and the investment was Rs 31,631 crores. He said that these units would provide employment to 98,364 people.

At the district-level there were 1,623 units approved with Rs 3,283 crores in investment, and employment would be provided to 33,225 people, he added.

Not satisfied with the answer, Revanth Reddy, Ravindra Kumar and others asked the minister if the government was trying to reopen the closed industries in the State. They alleged that several industries like OCTL were closed down due to the hostile attitude of the government.

They also asked the government to reveal how many dalit entrepreneurs had benefited from the new industrial policy.

The minister said that the government was making efforts to re-open some closed industries including BILT in Sirpur-Kagaznagar. The government was also allotting lands to dalit entrepreneurs by giving incentives.

He said that the government had directed the Micromax unit to provide 80% of jobs to the local people.
