Activists of the Bajrang Dal today tried to lay siege to the Lotus Pond residence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
The activists were demanding that the CM order a CBI inquiry into the attacks on the temples of the state.
Aware of the planned protests from earlier, the police had erected barricades at a distance of 200 metres from the residence of the AP CM, and deployed 300 police personnel to avoid any untoward incidents.
Despite that, the BD activists tried to barge into the house by crossing the barricades, leading to massive tension.
The police overpowered the activists and arrested them, and sent them to the nearby police station.
Speaking on the occasion, the activists demanded that the CM to remove Kodali Nani from his cabinet for hurting the religious sentiments of the Hindus.
There have reportedly been 16 attacks on temples in Andhra Pradesh the past year, and Nani spoke dismissively of them, saying that they were just pieces of wood and idols, and would be repaired.
