Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Saturday informed that tenders for at least 50% of the tanks to be revived under the Mission Kakatiya project would be called for by January 25.
Speaking to media persons after holding a video-conference with District Collectors at the State Secretariat, Rao said that the state government had expedited the process of calling for the tenders so as to complete the project as scheduled.
He said that a massive awareness campaign would be launched across the state by involving schools and Gram Sabhas.
He said that the government aimed to take up the revival of 9,300 tanks this year.
The minister also sought Central assistance for Mission Kakatiya. He added that huge funds were due to the State under various Central schemes.
He said that NABARD had been urged to grant a Rs 1,000-crore loan for Mission Kakatiya.
Harish Rao assured that transparency would be maintained in the entire tender process. (INN)
