On June 13, the Hyderabad police arrested an erstwhile Telugu film producer, Sunkara Krishna Prasad Chowdary, for peddling drugs near the Kismathpur crossroads under the limits of the Rajendranagar police station, and seized 90 sachets containing 82.75 gram of cocaine, cash of Rs 2,05,000, a four-wheeler and four mobile phones from his possession, worth Rs 78,50,000 in all.
A case was registered against him.
The accused, a native of Bonakal Mandal of Khammam district, completed B Tech in mechanical engineering and later worked as a Director - Operations in Indian Institute of Aeronautical Engineering and Technology at Pune of Maharashtra. In 2016, he left the job and entered the film industry. He produced the movie
Kabali's Telugu version, and was also a distributor for two Telugu movies and one Tamil movie -
Sardar Gabbar Singh,
Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu and Kanitan (Arjun Suravaram) - but did not apparently profit in the league that he expected.
During this period, he developed good connections with celebrities in the film industry, and moved to Goa and started an OHM Club there. He used to consume drugs with friends and celebrities who came from Hyderabad to his club at Goa. Due to losses in the business, he returned to Hyderabad in April 2023. While coming to Hyderabad, he procured 100 sachets of cocaine from a Nigerian by name Petit Ebuzer alias Gabrial residing at Goa, who is absconding in NDPS case Cr No 428/2023 of the Raidurgam police station.
Ten of the cocaine sachets he consumed himself and sold to his friends. On June 13, on a tip-off, the SOT Madhapur team apprehended him at the Kismathpur crossroads while he was trying to sell some of the remaining, and the police seized the 90 sachets, weighing 82.75 gram.
