A city court on Tuesday directed the Road Transport Authority to cancel the driving licence of Tollywood actor Nikhil Siddharth, who was caught for drunken driving, for one year.
Besides, the XIVth Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Nampally has also imposed a fine of Rs. 2,600 on him.
The court issued these directions when the police produced Nikhil in the court in connection with a drunken driving case booked against him on 11 November.
Nikhil, of '
Happy Days' fame, partied at a lounge in Jubilee Hills on Friday night, and apparently consumed alcohol.
He was caught by the police during a special drive at the Jubilee Hills Check Post.
The Skoda Laura that he was driving was seized, and a case was booked against him after he failed the breath analyser test.
However, to the surprise of many, Nikhil has decided to be the Hyderabad Traffic Police's ambassador and support their special drive against drunken driving.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) C V Anand, who introduced the special drive against drunken driving with the enforcement of Section 185 (A) for the first time in the city, welcomed Nikhil's initiative to work with the Hyderabad Traffic Police. (INN)
