Telangana Women and Child Welfare Minister Seethakka today announced that the State government would host the Poshana Masa Mahotsav (nutrition month celebrations) across the State from September 17 to October 16 to improve the health and nutrition of women and children.
The program has been designed to reach every household through the Anganwadi staff, spreading awareness about healthy eating habits.
Seethakka had also contacted elected representatives in Telangana by sending them letters, encouraging their active participation in promoting the initiative within their respective areas.
The minister said that the primary goal of the event was to raise awareness about nutrition in every home, as proper nutrition was fundamental to the overall health of families.
She said that as part of the initiative the State government had released Rs 30,000 for each ICDS project and Rs 50,000 for each district to implement special programs aimed at creating awareness among the people about nutrition, and directed the concerned officials to use these funds to organise awareness campaigns and nutrition-related health check-up camps from the village level to district and State levels.
