Y S Sharmila, who recently grabbed widespread attention after she hinted that she would soon
launch a new party in Telangana, continues to attract attention by organising a series of meetings with people across the state.
After conducting
many meetings with the supporters of her father, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, in the state, yesterday she interacted with the students and youth of Telangana at her Lotus Pond residence.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharmila said that she saw herself as en elder sister to the young people of the state, and would try her best to create an equitable and just society for them.
During the interaction, she reportedly inquired about their feelings regarding her political plans, and tried to gain insight into the problems they were facing, especially the ones relating to fee reimbursement and the lack of employment opportunities.
Sharmila then promised them that she would bring back the fee reimbursement scheme introduced by her father so that students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds could create a bright future for themselves.
The leader later told the media that the students and youth of the state were clamouring for a revival of Rajanna Rajyam, the "golden era" of her father's rule, under which the fee reimbursement schemes would be implemented properly and they would be able to find jobs with ease.
She has been quite busy lately, and has reportedly been occupied in the
preparations for the launch of her party. Some sources claim that she will finally launch the much-talked-about party in Khammam district on July 8, the day of her late father's birth anniversary.
