As the Centre waits to take a key decision on the implementation of Goods & Services Tax (GST) across the nation, Telangana Finance Minister Etela Rajender today urged it to desist from levying the burden of service tax slab rate on common people.
Talking to the media in Delhi after participating in the 4th GST Council meeting chaired by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, the minister said that people should not be burdened with the service tax slab rate.
Rajender said that the November 20 meeting would tackle issues pertaining to proposals made by the ministers which include
1. States should be allowed to collect taxes up to 70% from the dealers who earn Rs 1.5 crores income annually.
2. Centre should collect taxes from the States only after assessing the total number of staff of the Centre and the States.
