Telangana Tourism and Culture Minister V Srinivas Goud and Rural Development Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao today claimed that Telangana had become a welfare state under the rule of the TRS government.

Speaking after participating in some welfare programs in Palakurthy, they said, "Under the guidance of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, our government has been able to bring about holistic development in the state. We did not even cut back on welfare spending during the lockdown last year despite the huge losses incurred by the state during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic."

"The nation is today emulating our Mission Bhagiratha program, which enabled people to access potable water. Under KCR's guidance, the development in the state has not been solely urban-centric. We have rolled out various welfare schemes for rural development as well. The Mission Kakatiya program, for instance, has been implemented to improve the state's irrigation infrastructure in order to benefit the farmers, and the Haritha Haram scheme has been introduced to expand rural green cover. The government has also invested substantially in providing free buffaloes to livestock rearers in Telangana," they added.

While touring the area, the two ministers unveiled a statue of Sardar Sarvai Papanna at Ramavaram in Kodakandla Mandal, and lauded "the legendary figure" for his "commitment to bringing welfare to the region by fighting the Mughals", and drank toddy with the local toddy tappers of the area.

They also interacted with the tappers to gain better insight into the problems of the community.

The ministers asked the concerned officials to set up a Pothana Kalakshetram in Bammera in honour of the famed poet, and to complete the project in the next six months.

"The CM has allotted Rs 10 crore for the project so that a facility that stores all the works of Pothana and other great figures of Telugu literature can be set up. Please ensure that the library also houses a park and an auditorium. Our aim is to protect our history and culture, as well as our literature for the younger generations," they said.
