The government is planning to set up a Hyderabad Habitat Centre (HHC) at Khanamet near Hyderabad on the lines of New Delhi's Indian Habitat Centre.
Information Technology Minister K Taraka Rama Rao has announced that the Telangana Government would set up a Hyderabad Habitat Centre (HHC) at Khanamet near Hyderabad on the lines of New Delhi's Indian Habitat Centre.
Speaking after launching the Telangana Chamber of Events Industry (TCEI) on Wednesday, KTR said that the proposed HHC or Event City would be set up at a cost of Rs 100 crores.
KTR said that it was a great sign that the events industry was organizing itself into a professional body.
"This makes it easier for the government to interact with the industry. For any industry to grow you need an industrial body, and I am happy that TCEI has been formed. It is the first body of its kind in India. It is a wonderful initiative," he said.
"We want to see many global events happening in city. The recently launched initiative, Happening Hyderabad, coordinated by IndentCity along with the tourism department, has been getting overwhelming response. We were looking at just 52 events for 52 weeks. Now IndentCity has lined up 157 events. Even the Badminton League and Kabaddi League want to be part of the Happening Hyderabad initiative," KTR said.
"I am also keeping my fingers crossed since a big event management company is planning to host the South India Film Awards function in Hyderabad for next three years," he added.
The minister said that the Telangana Government was committed to decongesting Hyderabad by coming up with various clusters for the growth of the city. As part of this initiative, cities for pharma, film, games and sports were being planned, he said.
The Telangana Chamber of Events Industry is a not-for-profit organization, comprising of various industry sub-sectors - events, sound, light & video, facilitators, event caterers, event venue, entertainers etc.
