The Telangana government is gearing up to conduct a dry run of the Covid vaccine in Hyderabad and Mahabubnagar districts, tomorrow.
Hyderabad | 1st January 2021
The Telangana government today instructed the state's health officials to conduct a dry run for the administration of the Covid-19 vaccine in a set of designated hospitals in the state, tomorrow.
Three hospitals each in Hyderabad and Mahabubnagar districts were selected for the process.
The steps are being taken as part of the Centre's instructions to all states and UTs to conduct the dry run in order to ease the upcoming process of the nation-wide administration of the Covid-19 vaccine.
While some states have already completed the exercise, various other states, including Telangana, are gearing up to conduct the same on January 2.
In Hyderabad, the dry run, a two-hour long process, is likely to begin at 11 am in Gandhi Hospital, Yashoda Hospital, and the Tilak Nagar PHC.
"The idea of conducting this dry run is to see if there are any issues with the CoWIN (Covid Vaccine Intelligence Network) software, and to preempt and resolve any administrative issues that might hinder the vaccine distribution in the state," health officials said.
The TRS government has trained 10,000 medical personnel for the vaccine administration, and has also been taking various steps to equip the state's healthcare facilities to deal with the eventuality of a second Covid-19 wave.
