T-Struggle: Cases Withdrawal Sought

The Home Minister, however, has washed his hands off the issue.
Hyderabad | 12th August 2010
Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday clarified that he could not withdraw cases registered against students during the widespread agitations over the separate Telangana issue, since the matter rested with the state government.

Chidambaram, however, assured a delegation of Congress MPs from Telangana region, who had met him on Thursday, that he would write to the state government on the issue.

The delegation of Telangana MPs - Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Manda Jagannadham, Ponnam Prabhakar, G Vivek and S Rajaiah - also urged Chidambaram to declare those persons who had fought for the liberation of the Telangana region from the Nizam's rule as freedom fighters and grant them pensions.
