The chances of a Telangana state being formed are bright if the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government stays at the Centre, stated minister for civil supplies and legislative affairs D Sridhar Babu.
Talking to media persons on Wednesday, Sridhar Babu called upon Telangana leaders to prevail upon the Centre over the statehood issue.
These leaders can arouse the sentiments and aspirations of the region to achieve their dream, instead of mounting pressure on the Centre by threatening to submit their resignations to elected posts, he said.
They can raise the long-pending demand and talk to the Centre about the injustice suffered during various successive governments and prevail upon the Seemandhra leaders, Sridhar Babu said.
Reacting to the participation of some Congress leaders in the Jal Deeksha of former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, thus violating the high command's diktat, the minister said the high command would initiate strong disciplinary action against them soon.
