The Telangana unit of the BJP today slammed Y S Sharmila for her comments against the party.
In a media interaction, former MLA N V S S Prabhakar alleged that Sharmila's repeated claims that she would
bring back Rajanna Rajyam in Telangana did not bode well for the state since the era she referred to was one where undivided Andhra Pradesh was looted by those in power.
He also alleged that the famous jala yaganam water management program implemented by her father, former AP CM Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, had quickly turned into a 'dhana yagnam', or worship of wealth.
Talking about the
meeting held by Sharmila yesterday at Khammam, the former MLA alleged that the speech given by her had been written by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. He then questioned the state's administration about why she had been given permission to hold such large public meeting in the midst of the ongoing pandemic in the first place.
Commenting on the upcoming by-election in Nagarjuna Sagar, the BJP leader then said that a large amount of liquor was being distributed in the constituency by the TRS in order to lure the voters.
It is likely that Prabhakar's annoyance stems from Sharmila's acerbic words against the saffron party - in her speech yesterday she had expressed her displeasure at the BJP-led Centre's failure to establish a railway coach factory in Kazipet, which had been promised to Telangana in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, and had said that she would never ally herself with the party.
