Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today urged Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti to provide financial assistance and loans to various projects being implemented in the Telangana.
A member of the Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Program (AIBP) under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) scheme, Harish Rao called on Uma Bharti on Tuesday and discussed issues pertaining to irrigation projects in the State. The meeting assumes significance as Bharti earlier sought suggestions and inputs from irrigation ministers on projects that were to be taken up under PMKSY across the nation.
Talking to the media outside Parliament, Rao said that he apprised the Union Minister about the ongoing projects, and urged her to provide financial assistance for 11 of them as promised by the Centre during the recent Apex Council Meet.
He urged her to release Rs. 5000 crores for Mission Kakatiya, increase the loan amount for the Devadula project by 60% and release Rs. 600 crores grant for the 11 projects.
The irrigation minister also sought an increased third party loan component as was promised by NABARD during the council meet.
Bharti assured Rao that she would apprise Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley of this and provide a response soon.
For a quick recap, the Centre had recently agreed to raise the loan limit to 3.5% from 3% through Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM).
