The second phase of the Covid-19 inoculation program in Telangana was started today in about 140 centres across the state.
The state government has engaged health officials to ensure that all the medical workers take the vaccine as per the schedule, in two rounds. The process of distributing the vaccine across the 140 centres is currently underway.
Speaking on the matter, the officials said that about 3 lakh health workers employed in both the government and private hospitals of the state would get vaccinated in the state-wide immunisation program, in two rounds.
The second phase will reportedly be carried out till February 25.
All those health workers who had received the vaccine in the
first phase of the vaccination programme, which began on January 16, will be given the second dose in this round. The health workers who had not received the vaccine in January can also do so now.
On the occasion, Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences director Vimala Thomas received the vaccination. Medical Education Director Ramesh Reddy, who had received the first shot in January, was also administered the second dose at the Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, the Covid-19
vaccination drive for the Rachakonda Police was also started on February 6.
