SEC Issues Notification For Municipal Elections

The Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) today released the schedule for elections to two municipal corporations and five municipalities in the state.

Elections for 66 wards of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation and 60 wards of the Khammam Municipal Corporation will be held between 7 am and 5 pm on April 30. The counting will commence at 8:00 am on May 3, and the results will be declared on the same day.

Polling will also be held in over 200 wards in the municipalities of Siddipet and Achampet in Nagarkurnool district, Jadcherla in Mahabubnagar district, Kothur in Rangareddy district and Nakrekal in Nalgonda district.

The election body also announced that it would hold by-elections in 30 divisions of different urban local bodies on the same day.
The by-elections will be held in Gajwel, Nalgonda, Jalpally, Alampur, Bodhan, Parkal, Metpally, Bellampally and one seat of the GHMC.

The SEC authorities will accept nomination forms from candidates between April 16 and April 18. The forms will then be scrutinised on April 19, and candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations till April 22. The final list of candidates will also be published on the same day.

If reports are to be believed, TRS working president, IT and Industries K T Rama Rao, has already begun to woo voters in Khammam.
