On a happier note, the bulletin revealed that 2,209 recoveries had been recorded yesterday.

The sharp increase in both case numbers and mortality figures has finally prompted the state government to impose a night curfew from today till May 1. According to the curfew orders, all offices, shops, pubs, restaurants, hotels and other public places will have to close at 8:00 pm every evening from today till May 1.

Some offices, including government ones, and some essential and emergency services have been exempted from following the curfew.

The curfew will be enforced between 9:00 pm and 5:00 am.
