Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar on Thursday stated that he would lodge a complaint with the Congress High Command against Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for allegedly making attempts to file cases against MPs during the Telangana
rail roko.
Talking to media persons, Ponnam Prabhakar alleged that the state government primarily targeted elected representatives who belonged to SC, ST and Backward Classes, levelling baseless charges against them to dilute the statehood agitation.
He said that 3 MPs - G Sukender, Rajaiah and himself - will complain to the High Command against the Chief Minister's "attitude" towards Telangana leaders.
The MP said that the elected representatives from Telangana in the Congress would convene a meeting at Exhibition Grounds on 22 October to chalk out the future course of action. He said that the leaders have also decided to boycott the Andhra Pradesh State Formation Day celebrations on 1 November.
Ponnam Prabhakar also condemned AICC official spokesperson Renuka Chowdary for speaking on behalf of the Seemandhra region.
Hailing Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's statement that he was confident of reaching a win-win situation for all concerned through consultations over Telangana statehood, he appealed to the PM to announce a roadmap for statehood.
Reacting sarcastically to the BJP's promise of Telangana by 2014, he questioned why the BJP hadn't thought of Telangana during the NDA regime.
He also condemned Medak MP Vijayashanti's statement that only the BJP could give a Telangana state if it comes to power.
"Is she saying that the people of the region must wait till the next election in 2014?" he asked.
MPs Gutta Sukender Reddy and S Rajaiah also attended the press conference. (INN)
