Governor E S L Narasimhan on Tuesday assured the delegation of Telangana Congress leaders meeting him that the Telangana State Public Service Commission would be constituted soon.
Speaking to media persons after submitting a memorandum to the Governor at Raj Bhavan, TPCC Vice-President Mohammed Ali Shabbir said that the Telangana Congress leaders, on behalf of Telangana's jobless students, had sought the Governor's intervention for the constitution of a TSPSC immediately.
Responding to the request, the Governor informed the delegation that the constitution of the Public Service Commission was underway.
Further, the Telangana Congress leaders briefed the Governor about the ongoing agitation by the Telangana Unemployed Students JAC demanding issuing of job notifications and scrapping off of contract jobs.
Shabbir Ali said that the students of Telangana had made a lot of sacrifices for the cause of statehood hoping for justice, end of discrimination and more job opportunities. However, after the realisation of the dream of Telangana, the TRS government had completely ignored their welfare, he alleged.
He said that the Governor's intervention had been sought to ensure that all educated unemployed youth get regular jobs.
Shabbir Ali also said that the Governor had been requested to direct the State Government to re-inspect 174 out of the 315 private engineering colleges whose affiliation had been cancelled.
Stating that the de-affiliation of those colleges had led to the loss of nearly one lakh seats and related jobs, he said that the affiliations of institutions which were following the AICTE norms should be restored.
The Congress delegation comprised of the Leader of the Opposition K Jana Reddy, TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah and other leaders. (INN)
