The last day of the first leg of AP Budget Session 2013, at the State Legislative Assembly, had a stormy start on Tuesday, with the opposition members forcing the adjournment of the House within 10 minutes of its commencement.
As soon as the House met, the opposition parties moved different adjournment motions seeking discussions on various topics. While the TRS wanted a Telangana resolution in the House, the YSRCP insisted on a debate on farmers' issues. The CPI and CPI (M) wanted a debate on the energy crisis, while the BJP wanted a discussion specifically on the energy crisis in the Telangana region. Independent member Nagam Janardhan Reddy gave an adjournment motion notice on value-added taxes.
However, Speaker Nadendla Manohar disallowed all the adjournment motions consequently leading to uproar in the House by the opposition parties, which subsequently led to the adjournment of the House for half-an-hour.
The opposition parties resumed their protests when the House met again at 10.55am. The Speaker announced all the questions listed for Question Hour as deemed to have been answered. Later, he allowed Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy to make a statement on Revenue Sadassulu, and the House then resumed discussions on the energy crisis. (INN)
