The Telangana State Police (TSP) Department is implementing a number of key initiatives for making Telangana the most secure global destination. TSP has engaged the services of the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) to lead these initiatives.
According to a press release, one of the key objectives set out by the TSP is to achieve a citizen-friendly police force to take the police force closer to the citizens.
Since the police personnel interact with the public and address their grievances, it is being deemed of crucial importance that they demonstrate a citizen-friendly and service-oriented attitude and behavior. Friendly interactions with complainants, showing compassion to victims and treating everyone with courtesy are of key importance.
The TSP plans to have its personnel go through a series of training programs to help the personnel develop a positive attitude.
As an initial step, the first of the many such programs planned, a 2-day Training of Trainers program titled "Awareness Program on Citizen Friendly Policing" was launched today.
The program focuses on enhancing the capacity for empathy and compassion. Appearance, body language, social graces, attitude, optimism, communication skills and conflict resolution are some of the aspects covered in the training program. It is being attended by 93 inspectors, sub-inspectors and head constables from different zones of Hyderabad and Cyberabad.
The program being conducted by and at ASCI was inaugurated by Director General of Police Anurag Sharma and presided over by Police Commissioners M Mahendar Reddy (Hyderabad) and C V Anand (Cyberabad). (INN)
To built up the image of the Police in Telangana State, first of all, the Head of the Department had to take measures and see that corruption by the Officers from the Rank of SIs to SDPOs should be curbed out, the habbit of receiving monthly mamools in all the levels should be prevented in the Department. When coming to the friendly policing, the Department itself is not giving respect to the personnels working in it. When comes to the stage of civilians, question of giving respect to the civilians or victims does not arise in the Department. Respecting all the citizens to be followed in the Department keeping aside who ever or what ever he is that has approached the Police for justice. Giving respect to the people coming to the Police Station and behaving in friendly/polite manner with them is to be made a should and must in the Department. The Officer enquiring into the petitions received from the complainants/victims should act promptly and half of the justice to be done at the Police Station itself. Further, the interference of the politicians while enquiring into the petitions should be stopped and the Police Should have full powers to dispose off the petitions on their merits. More over consuming of alcohol by the Police Personnel while on duty should be curbed out strictly and stringe action should be initiated on the drunkards to built up the image of the Police.
