TDP, Cong T-Leaders Go Aggressive
TDP's Telangana MLAs call the governor anti-Telangana, and Congress Telangana leaders want to serve an ultimatum to the high command, for a separate state.
Hyderabad | 7th January 2011
The TDP Telangana leaders met at the New MLA Quarters this morning to chart out their future course on Telangana, and decided to evolve a strategy to put pressure on the Congress to concede the demand for a separate state.
TDP's Telangana MLAs also surrounded the Raj Bhavan and raised demands for withdrawal of Central forces from Telangana, withdrawal of police battalions from Osmania University, lifting of restrictions on the media, and the introduction of the Telangana bill in Parliament immediately.
They also termed the governor anti-Telangana, and protested for him to be recalled. Police have arrested the protesting MLAs. The governor is, incidentally, in New Delhi, where he met Sonia Gandhi.
Congress Telangana leaders too met, at the Vasavi Bhavan this morning, and decided to serve an ultimatum to the high command to introduce the Telangana bill in the Parliament budget session. They have also threatened to resign and start fasts/protests in their pursuit of Telangana. Some MPs have even threatened suicide.
It may be noted that neither of these parties has an official stand on Telangana, and that the Telangana representatives of the parties are pretty much acting on their own.
Some Telangana leaders are also blaming former chief minister Rosaiah for the current situation.
Meanwhile, Seemandhra leaders, including Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, Seelam and Lagadapati went to New Delhi to meet Sonia Gandhi and discuss the injustice meted out to AP by the tribunal on the Krishna waters. They have also asked for Polavaram to be given national status.
