Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy stated that the state government has lifted 843 police cases on students and other activists who have participated in the statehood agitation across the state so far.
Talking to media persons after emerging from a review meeting held at the state Secretariat on Saturday, the Home Minister said that 383 GOs were issued with regard to the withdrawal of police cases against the students.
She said that the government was seeking legal opinion while withdrawing the cases classified as Category - 5 based on their nature. However, the government would announce its decision once the legal experts give their opinions, she said.
Stating that 824 cases were still pending with the government, she said that as promised, the government was committed to lift all the cases against the students.
The Home Minister also said that the government was also considering lifting cases against the Muslim youth who were booked during the recent communal clashes in the Old City.
Minister for Marketing & Warehousing M Mukesh Goud, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, City Police Commissioner A K Khan, and other top police officials were present in the review meeting. (INN)
