Governor E S L Narasimhan on Wednesday accepted the
resignation tendered by Komatireddi Venkatreddy, the Minister for Infrastructure & Investments from the state Cabinet.
The resignation was accepted following a recommendation from Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. Komatireddi was also holding the portfolios of Ports, Airports and Natural Gas.
All the portfolios of Komatireddi will now be looked after by the Chief Minister till alternative arrangements are made.
Komatireddi Venkatreddy had submitted his resignation to the Governor on 1 October, protesting against the Centre's failure to announce a decision on the Telangana issue by 30 September.
Reddy had also handed over his letter of resignation as MLA to Assembly Secretary Raja Sadaram.
The minister had also dashed off a letter to AICC president Sonia Gandhi, seeking a favourable decision on the creation of Telangana in the larger interests of the region and the party. He charged the state government with all-round failure, and of being incompetent in handling the Telangana general strike.
Reddy said that his decision was not to embarrass the government or set a deadline but to pressurise the party to take a decision on Telangana. (INN)
