Telangana Home Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali today distributed 33 two-wheeler vehicles to members of the state's She Team police department under the TRS government's Safe City project at an event held at the Goshamahal Stadium.
The vehicles were allotted to personnel of the Cyberabad and Rachakonda Police Commissionerates.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahmood Ali said that the She Teams were working round the clock to make the state safe for women, and that reports of eve-teasing had seen a fall after the formation of the special police wing in 2014.
"Our government is committed to making Telangana safe for all its citizens. To achieve this, we have filled 27,000 posts in the state's police departments in two phases since 2014. We have also been actively involved in making our state safe for women. For this, we formed the She Teams in 2014. They have been doing a great job and have been able to help 10,000 women so far. I hope that they continue to work hard to keep Telangana safe and crime-free," he added.
Hyderabad Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar, who was also present at the event, said that the police were committed to ensuring the safety of the citizens.
"The police works to keep the people of Telangana safe. We constantly take steps to improve the law and order situation in our capital city and across the state - recently, 60 additional vehicles were distributed among the three police commissionerates in Hyderabad. Further, 6.5 lakh CCTVs have been installed in the capital to help monitor any suspicious activity and aid in the identification of anti-social elements. We will always strive to uphold justice and prevent crime, and will continue to take steps to improve women's safety in Hyderabad."
