Senior Telangana Congress leader and MLC K R Amos on Monday clarified that the Telangana martyrs meeting scheduled to be held at Nalgonda on October 31st was not cancelled, but was deferred due to the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, observed as Anti-terrorism Day.
Talking to media persons at the CLP media point, Amos vowed that the Telangana leaders would not bow down to cheap tricks of Seemandhra leaders and continue the martyrs meeting in Telangana districts.
Loyalists of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had disrupted the martyrs meeting at Mahabubnagar last Friday, protesting the absence of the late chief minister's portrait on the flexi-board banners. The Telangana Congress leaders have been trying to pin the blame on Seemandhra leaders for the disruption.
Amos stated that though YSR had worked for the benefit of Telangana people by launching various schemes, there was no need to place his portrait in the Telangana Martyrs memorial program, since he had obstructed moves for a separate Telangana state.
The MLC stated that no one could obstruct formation of Telangana and hoped that a separate Telangana state would become a reality soon.
Amos urged Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and District Superintendent Of Police to arrest those who disrupted the martyrs meet in Mahabubnagar.
