Lawyers Attempt To Block Assembly, Demand Security

Tension prevailed at the Telangana Legislative Assembly today during the ongoing session as lawyers attempted to block the Assembly, demanding security.

Protesting the murder of advocate Israel by an electrician, members of the Telangana Advocates JAC led the demonstration.

Marching towards the Assembly, they demanded the enactment of a special law for the protection of lawyers, and insisted on an immediate such legislation.

However, the police intervened, leading to a scuffle between the two groups, escalating tensions. The police eventually detained the protesting lawyers and removed them from the Assembly premises.

For context, advocate Israel was murdered on Monday in New Maruti Nagar, Santoshnagar. He had filed a complaint against an electrician named Dastagiri for harassing a woman. Enraged by this, Dastagiri attacked Israel with a knife. The advocate succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital.
