Telangana Minister for Information Technology and Panchayat Raj Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao today asked RTA officials to provide RC and driving licenses through the electronic mode (online) and thereby help avoid inconvenience to the people.
The minister was launching a first-of-its-kind e-vehicle-insurance facility along with Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy and officials. The facility will help vehicle owners get insurance over mobile phones.
KTR said that treatment for accidents was proving expensive for vehicle users, and the new e-vehicle-insurance facility would address the problem.
The IT Minister said that Telangana was the first State to introduce e-vehicle-insurance in India. The facility would obviate the need for vehicle users to make rounds of the government offices, he said.
The IT, Transport and Police wings had created this facility in coordination with IRDAE, KTR said.
KTR also called upon the owners of vehicles of all genres to get their vehicles insured for safety and security. There were a huge number of vehicles plying in the twin cities without insurance, he said.
Mahender Reddy said that the State government was in favour of bringing every facility to the doorsteps of the people. Vehicle owners should avail themselves of the e-vehicle-insurance through their mobile for immediate registration, he added.
