Speaking on the occasion, he said that "The life of an individual can be considered a successful one only after they can understand and empathise with the problems of those around them. Our government believes in this idea and therefore consistently works towards the welfare of the economically disadvantaged and the disabled in the state. Our regime feels great happiness when our policies and programs bring smiles to the faces of vulnerable sections of society. This is why we have taken up several programs for the welfare of the disabled community. We are spending Rs 24.38 crore for the distribution of implements to them."
Outlining the efforts of the KCR government to provide the disabled with educational qualifications and stable livelihoods, KTR added, "We have introduced various pre-matric and post-matric scholarships for the disabled and have set up skill development centres that provide them with skill sets that make them employable. Further, our pension scheme gives disabled beneficiaries monthly aid of Rs 3,016. 5% of the double bedroom houses being built under our free housing schemes have been set aside for them and aid of Rs 1,25,145 is given to them under our Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes."
The minister also promised that the government would soon provide 4% reservation for the disabled in government job recruitments.
