TRS supremo and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today held a cabinet meeting with the state's ministers at his camp-office, Pragathi Bhavan.
At the meeting, KCR reportedly directed the ministers to coordinate with the party's other public representatives - the MLAs and the MPs - to ensure the victory of the TRS in the upcoming MLC elections in the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda and the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar graduates' constituencies, and in the Nagarjuna Sagar by-election.
KCR then asked the party's leaders to woo voters by informing them of the TRS government's various welfare schemes, which, he claimed, had been continued despite the huge losses the state had faced during the Covid-19 pandemic. He also discussed the implementation of the aforementioned welfare schemes, and the ways to address certain developmental issues in the state.
After its
stunning defeat in the Dubbaka by-election last year, the party has been treating the upcoming MLC elections as a issue of prestige. Further, its
significant fall in vote share in the GHMC elections, held in December 2020, had also left the party anxious about regaining its popularity.
Those present at the meeting included ministers K T Rama Rao, T Harish Rao, Mohammad Mahamood Ali, V Srinivas Goud, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, V Prashanth Reddy and Sabitha Indra Reddy.
