Congress leaders from the Telangana region will meet on Friday to chalk out the future course of action to be adopted to achieve statehood for the Telangana region.
The Telangana Congress leaders will convene a meeting at Pacnhayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy's residence at 4pm on Friday, to discuss the strategy to be adopted for the Telangana agitation.
According to sources, besides discussing the Telangana issue, the Congress leaders would also discuss the party's debacle in the recently-held by-lections.
They are likely to finalise a strategy to mount pressure on the Congress High Command to announce a favourable decision on Telangana in order to strengthen the party's base in the region.
The meeting by Congress leaders from the region assumes importance, with the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee
setting April 24 as the deadline for the Congress and the TDP to make their stand on Telangana clear.
Earlier, JAC chairman M Kodandaram had called upon JAC leaders to launch rallies and dharnas across the Telangana region to mount pressure on the Congress and TDP to make their stand on the issue clear. (INN)
