The Telangana High Court today took up a hearing in the petition filed regarding the rejection by Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan of the nominations by the previous BRS government of two persons for MLCs.

The nominees, Dasoju Shravan and Satyanarayana, had approached the High Court on the rejection of their nominations.

The lawyers for Shravan and Satyanarayana told the High Court that under Article 171 the Governor could not stop the decision of the Cabinet. However, the counsel on behalf of the Governor told the court that there was no merit in the petition under Article 361.

The High Court said that it would conduct an inquiry on the maintainability of the petition, and adjourned the case to January 24.
