The Telangana High Court today dismissed the petition filed by Praja Shanti party president K A Paul on MLAs who switched parties.
The court said that the decision on the MLAs who had changed parties was within the purview of the Assembly Speaker, and added that a recent judgement had already asked the Speaker to take an appropriate decision on the issue at an appropriate time.
Paul in his petition had urged the court to order the MLAs who had defected to other parties not to attend the Assembly. He specifically urged the court to prevent turncoat BRS MLAs like Danam Nagender who had changed parties many times from taking part in the Assembly proceedings. He had said that people would lose faith in democracy if such turncoat MLAs changed parties as they liked.
