Government Fires Officials Over Illegal Structures

Telangana Panchayat Raj & Rural Development Minister Jupally Krishna Rao today fired two staff members of his wing after observing that a four-storeyed government building has been illegally constructed by them at Pragathi Nagar in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

The minister paid a surprise visit to the town and critically expressed his dissatisfaction at the violators for flouting norms and encouraging layouts and structures without legal documentation or permission. He suspended VRO Maulana and ex VRO Manohar, and issued charge memos to Executive Officers Jyothi and Malla Reddy in connection to this.

Warning that the government would not spare corrupt practices, Rao directed DPO Suresh to take immediate action against the violators, and sought the officials to submit a report on all such illegally built official structures and buildings. He said he would bring about changes in the amount of fine to be paid on such illegal government structures, as they were not the same as constructing any other illegal structure.

The minister attributed the violation of norms to insufficient monitoring and to officials colluding with building contractors and said that a final call on the quantum of action to be taken against the violators would be taken after speaking with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
