The cabinet today decided to come up with a new education policy to check fees in private schools and colleges, and also to introduce English medium at the school level.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao who chaired the cabinet meeting has reportedly decided to bring in a new Act for the above objectives, after the report of the sub-committee.
The sub-committee will be headed by Sabitha Indra Reddy, and will have ministers K T Rama Rao, Harish Rao, Niranjan Reddy, Srinivas Yadav, Koppula Eshwar and Jagadish Reddy as members.
The government also plans to develop schools by spending Rs 7,289 crores.
The cabinet also discussed the coronavirus cases surge, the state's preparedness, paddy procurement, and the Dharani portal services and land issues, among others.
The health officials informed the meeting about their readiness to tackle the coronavirus surge. KCR directed that the ban on public meetings and rallies, and restrictions on gatherings, continue.
