Kalwakurthy MLA Challa Vamshichand Reddy claimed that the TRS government was diverting water from the region's reservoir to the 25,000 acres land in Wanaparthy instead of to the proposed ayacut in his constituency.
Speaking to the media at Assembly Media Hall on Saturday, Vamshichand said that 90% of the Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Project works were completed during the Congress regime. The TRS government, too, said that it would provide water to Kalwakurthy constituency by July, 2016, but failed. He said that his aim was to provide irrigation water to every acre in Kalwakurthy.
Demanding the State government tender apologies to the constituency's people for not providing water, Vamshichand alleged that the government instead diverted the water allocated to Kalwakurthy to Wanaparthy under pressure from State Planning Commission chairman S Niranjan Reddy.
He also said that channelling water to Kalwakurthy was being delayed since the government didn't construct an aqueduct on the Dindi river.
And he urged that the Chief Minister fulfill the promise that he would construct a 20 tmc-ft reservoir in order to provide water to Kalwakurthy by 2017.
"Otherwise, we will wage a movement against the government along with the people in Kalwakurthy," he warned.
