Telangana Gets Covifor Injection For Covid-19

Hetero Healthcare has reportedly distributed about 20,000 Covifor (Remdesivir) vials to Telangana and four other seriously Covid-affected states.

Noted pharma company Hetero Healthcare reportedly distributed about 20,000 Covifor (Remdesivir) vials to Telangana and four other states which are seriously Covid-affected.

Each vial costs Rs 5,400, according to sources.

The pharma giant supplied the generic injection to Telangana, Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu, according to the information received.

Hetero plans to next supply vials to Kolkata, Bhopal, Patna, Ranchi, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, Tiruvananthapuram, Goa, Vijayawada and Kochi.

Upon getting authorisation from America-based Gilid Sciences, Hetero is producing and distributing Covifor. It aims to produce one lakh vials in 2-3 weeks.

Used for seriously ill Covid patients, Covifor is not available in the open market, and patients can avail themselves of it only from the government and its hospitals.

Each Covid patient needs six doses, and every 100 mg injection costs Rs 5,400.
