Union Minister Killi Kruparani on Thursday said that the division of Andhra Pradesh was inevitable as the Centre has already initiated the process at the highest level.
Talking to reporters after meeting Congress president Sonia Gandhi here, Kruparani said that the process of the state's bifurcation cannot be stopped.
Therefore, she said that there was no point talking about keeping the state united, and thus misleading the people. However, she said that the concerns of the people in the Seemandhra region would be conveyed to the Group of Ministers (GoM) on Telangana, to ensure that the region does not meet with injustice.
Stating that the resignations of Union Ministers and MPs from their posts would serve no purpose, she said that she would meet the GoM on October 18-19 to submit her detailed representation.
Earlier, she submitted a representation to the UPA Chairperson seeking the Centre's assistance in providing relief for the people hit by Cyclone Phailin in north-coastal-Andhra districts. While assuring help, Gandhi reportedly advised Kruparani to also meet Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on the issue. (INN)
