Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao cancelled the Cabinet meeting scheduled for Monday in view of the severe rains and resultant floods over the past several days.
The Chief Minister directed the ministers and the TRS leaders to stay at their home constituencies and attend to the needs of the people.
"The ministers should coordinate with the district officials to monitor the floods. The TRS leaders will continuously provide relief to the people of their respective constituencies," he said.
He urged the Collectors and the police officials of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam to be ultra-vigilant as the meteorological department had issued a warning stating that the Godavari could overflow anytime due to the dangerous levels to which it had risen.
Meanwhile, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao also instructed the officials of his ministry to remain vigilant as water inflows from Maharashtra to Telangana were likely to continue for a few more days due to the severe rains.
Harish Rao later called up Maharashtra Minister for Water Resources Girish Dattatray Mahajan and spoke about the water inflow from that State and the flood situation in Telangana.
Rao was apprised by Mahajan about the amounts of water being release from the Maharashtrian side.
The irrigation minister also reviewed the water levels in the Sri Ram Sagar, Yellampalli, Midmaneru, LMD, Singhur and Nizam Sagar projects, all of which reportedly have reached dangerous heights.
