In a tragic and shocking incident, a family of four, including two children, today committed suicide in Keesara, in Medchal district.
The incident reportedly took place in the Gandhi Nagar area of Nagaram (West) where the family lived.
According to the details revealed by the local police, who are currently investigating the matter, an auto-rickshaw driver identified as Bhikshapati committed suicide along with his wife Usha, son Yashwant, and daughter Harishini.
The locals alleged that Bhikshapati had misbehaved with a girl who lived in his neighbourhood.
After the incident came to light, the locals confronted Bhikshapati about the same last night. It was then decided that the matter would be "sorted out" in the presence of the elders of the area this morning.
However, pained at the insult they had faced at the hands of the locals, Bhikshapati and his family committed suicide. Reports say that he first hanged his wife and two children before committing suicide himself.
It was the locals who informed the police after they realised what had happened. A team of local police personnel, including Keesara CI Narender, reached the spot and sent the bodies of the victims for post mortem tests. They also launched an investigation into the incident.
