EC Appoints IAS Harpreet Singh As Poll Observer
The Election Commission of India (EC) today appointed Harpreet Singh, an IAS officer, as an observer for the upcoming MLC elections in Telangana.

The Election Commission of India (EC) today appointed Harpreet Singh, an IAS officer from the Telangana cadre of 1991 who is currently the Additional Director General (Training) at the Dr Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute of Andhra Pradesh, as an observer for the upcoming MLC elections in Telangana's two graduates' constituencies.
An EC release announced Singh's appointment to the post of poll observer. The same release also directed the officials of the State Election Commission to make the necessary arrangements for the elections.
The elections will be conducted on Sunday, March 14. Polling will reportedly start at 8 am and will close at 4 pm, and the results of the elections will be announced after three days, on March 17.
While the last date for the filing of nominations was today, the nomination papers will be scrutinised tomorrow, February 24. Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nominations till February 26.
Elections in Andhra Pradesh's Krishna-Guntur and East Godavari-West Godavari teachers' constituencies will also follow the same schedule.
Just before the nomination filing process came to a close today, a sea of Telangana's leaders were seen making a beeline to file their papers. While some candidates, including BJP's N Ramchander Rao, TJS' M Kodandaram, Inti Party's Cheruku Sudhakar and Congress' G Chinna Reddy, filed their nominations yesterday, TRS' Surabhi Vani Devi and CPI's B Jayasarthi Reddy filed theirs today.
