Telangana Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy today said that out of the 18 lakh acres wrongly included in the disputed Part-B category by the previous BRS government, approximately six to seven lakh acres comprised agricultural land, and that these land disputes would be resolved through the newly implemented Bhu Bharathi Act.
The minister, accompanied by his Cabinet colleagues Konda Surekha and Seethakka, launched the pilot project of the Act at the Venkatapur mandal headquarters in Mulugu district.
He later participated in and addressed an awareness program on the Act in the Pusai village, located in Bhoraj mandal of Adilabad district.
During the program, he explained that the primary objectives of the Bhu Bharathi Act were to ease the hardships faced by the poor and make the State free from land-related disputes.
"Services will now be provided to farmers in a hassle-free manner. Under the BRS administration earlier, farmers had to approach revenue offices to resolve their land issues. But under the Congress government, officials will visit the farmers to help them directly," the minister said.
He also said that the State government would soon launch a toll-free number to connect people with the Revenue Department and the Chief Commissioner Of Land Administration's office for speedy resolution of land issues.
The minister also announced that a committee would be constituted in line with the Union government's guidelines to ensure a permanent solution to land disputes.
