The Telangana government today took the decision to offer a rise in basic pay to the contract lecturers of the state's educational institutions.
With this, all contract lecturers in junior and degree colleges, and polytechnic colleges will get a 30% hike in accordance with the recommendations of the Pay Revision Commission (PRC). The decision will also lead to an increase in the salaries of guest and contract lecturers who work on an hourly basis.
The relevant GOs - 104, 105 and 106 - for the implementation of the hike were issued by the state's finance department after the Cabinet okayed the same.
Finance Minister T Harish Rao, Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy, and Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar offered copies of the GOs to members of a JAC demanding the wage hike.
The ministers addressed the contract lecturers after the decision was made public, and informed them that they would receive a raise in their basic pay in accordance with PRC recommendations.
Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao extended his wishes to the lecturers on receiving a nod for the increase in pay.
Principal secretary (Education) Sandip Kumar Sultania, JAC Chairman Kanaka Chandram and members Nagesh, Malathi Vinod Kumar, and Umashankar were also present when the orders were issued.
