Telangana Congress Legislature Party leader K Jana Reddy demanded that the Telangana government give land for land and house for house to the people displaced by the Mallanna Sagar project, and not to deceive the farmers saying that they would benefit more with G O No 123.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Reddy said that the Congress was not against the construction of projects. He said that it was however not proper for the government to purchase the lands at prices lower than the market rate for the Mallanna Sagar project.
He said that the Congress would not trouble the state government if it ensured justice to the farmers, but made it clear that the Congress would stand by any farmers vicitimized.
Demanding that the Irrigation Minister Harish Rao take back his remarks with regard to the Mallanna Sagar project, Reddy said that Rao's argument that the farmers would be at a loss in case the 2013 Land Acquisition Act was implemented to offer compensation and rehabilitation was not correct. He claimed that the farmers would benefit four times more in case the government provided compensation after a thorough study.
