Leader of the Opposition in the Telangana Legislative Council D Srinivas on Saturday sought the disqualification of 5 Congress MLCs who joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi recently.
Speaking to media persons after meeting Assembly Secretary S Raja Sadaram, Srinivas informed that the Congress party has sought the disqualification of K R Amos, Jagadishwar Reddy, V Bhupal Reddy, Bhanuprasad and N Rajalingam as members of Telangana Legislative Council.
He said that those MLCs were elected or appointed to their positions on the Congress party's banner, and therefore, should be disqualified as MLCs as they ceased to be members of the Congress party.
Without naming Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Srinivas alleged that the ruling party was encouraging defections in the Congress party.
He said that legal action was also being initiated against the rebel MLCs. (INN)
