Refuting the allegations made by Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao against the previous united Andhra Pradesh Congress government that it had spent only 50% of the funds released for the irrigation projects in the then united State, the Congress challenged the TRS-led government to prove the claim.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday along with official spokesperson K Mahesh, TPCC Vice-President Mallu Ravi debunked the claims made by the irrigation minister and stated that the irrigation projects taken up during the Congress regime could not be completed due to time constraints and elections. He claimed that there was no truth in the accusations, and asked Rao to take stringent action against the leaders who he was accusing if the allegations were indeed found to be true.
Speaking on the recent commission of two lifts of the Kalwakurthy reservoir under the Palamur lift irrigation project, he said that inaugurating a project wasn't the same as completing it, and that completing the project would take years for any government as it depended on the number of areas in the State that were being irrigated.
"The Congress government had completed 90% of the works of the Kalwakurthy project, but the present government is taking all the credit for it," he alleged.
