After suffering the ignominy of being slapped by a young TRS MLA Guvvala Balaraju from Achampet during the Mahabubnagar Zilla Parishat meeting, Congress legislator from Makthal in Mahabubnagar Chittem Rammohan Reddy, the younger brother of former minister D K Aruna, today joined the very party.
Though the defection by Reddy raised many an eyebrow, he had been maintaining a distance from the Congress party for some time now, and so the move was expected.
It is said that Health Minister Lakshma Reddy made efforts to convince Rammohan Reddy to join the ruling party, at the behest of KCR.
KCR welcomed the disgruntled MLA into the TRS fold by offering him the traditional TRS pink shawl this morning, in the presence of Lakshma Reddy and G Balaraju, both from the same district.
Later, Rammohan Reddy told mediapersons that he had joined the ruling party only for the development of his Makthal Assembly constituency.
"The Chief Minister has promised all necessary help to develop my segment," he claimed.
Rammohan Reddy also said that KCR would complete the Palamur lift scheme and other pending projects in the district. He also exuded confidence that the State would become a "golden Telangana" under the able leadership of KCR.
"Unmindful of previous fights, we will work for Palamur's development, and follow KCR's leadership for a golden Telangana," he said.
Balaraju also said that leaders from other parties were joining the ruling party for development of their own constituencies.
