Congress Leaders Project United Face With Kuntia
Congress leaders tried to appear united as they claimed to have suggested to the new AICC boss for Telangana that Uttam Kumar Reddy continue as TPCC chief.
Denying reports that he was trying to get the TPCC president changed, former deputy chief minister Damodar Raja Narasimha said that he had suggested to AICC's in-charge for Telangana affairs R C Kuntia to instead unite all the Congress leaders in the state.
Emerging from the Telangana Congress' comprehensive meeting held at Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday under the leadership of Kuntia, he said that the meeting had discussed only strategies to strengthen the party in the coming months.
Former Whip T Jagga Reddy, too, said that he had urged Kuntia to continue the present PCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy in the position till the 2019 elections. He said that he also made the following suggestions to Kuntia:
1. That the Congress should attract the "settlers'" vote bank. He said that there was a need to identify a good leader from the settlers and give the person a good position.
2. That the party conduct a "Vidyarthi Garjana" in December or in January with 5 lakh students in Hyderabad under the leadership of AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi.
3. That the party conduct a meeting on the TRS' promise to offer 12% reservations for Muslims and tribals.
4. That the party conduct a Rythu Garjana at Warangal.
5. That the party conduct meetings in the state every three months.
TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that he had informed Kuntia about his proposed padayatra and that the party would take a decision on it. He said that he had asked Kuntia to appoint all committees wings within three months.
TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy and AICC secretary in-charge J Satish Jarkiholi participated in the meeting.
