Telangana Congress senior leader V Hanumantha Rao staged a silent protest by tying a black ribbon around his mouth before the Syndicate Bank at a village in the Medak district on Thursday, demanding that the State and the Centre address the cash woes of the people.
Speaking to the media earlier, Rao alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not in a position to answer the questions posed by AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi, and hence was abstaining from attending Parliament.
He also questioned Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who had earlier opposed the note ban, to answer why he had stopped criticizing the Centre after visiting the national capital.
The Congress leader also said that people were facing severe hardships due to the demonetization of the two currency bills, and demanded that the Centre immediately resolve the issue.
